What You’ll Need: To make potato salad you will need potatoes (any type works), mayonnaise (or an alternative like Greek yogurt or sour cream), onion (red or white), celery stalks, hard boiled eggs (optional), dill pickles (optional) and seasonings such as salt and pepper.

How To Make It

  1. Begin by boiling the potatoes in salted water until they are tender but not mushy.
  2. Drain them and let them cool before cutting into cubes.
  3. In a large bowl combine the cubed potatoes with the diced onion and celery stalks.
  4. Add in any optional ingredients if desired such as chopped eggs or dill pickles.
  5. Finally add enough mayonnaise to coat all of the ingredients evenly.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste then refrigerate for at least one hour before serving cold alongside your BBQ chicken dinner!

How To Make It

  2. Wash and dry each potato.
  3. Slice each potato into thin slices about 1/8-inch thick without cutting through the bottom of the potato.

How To Make It

  2. Take the three cloves of garlic and wrap them in aluminum foil.
  3. Place on a baking sheet in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Once done roasting set aside to cool before handling.
  5. Next bring a large pot of salted water to boil over high heat then add the potato cubes and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.
  6. Drain the cooked potatoes then return them to the pot over low heat stirring constantly for one minute or so just to evaporate any remaining moisture from cooking process.
  7. Remove from heat then mash using either a potato masher or an electric mixer adding butter, milk and roasted garlic as you go along until desired consistency is reached (you may not need all ingredients).

How To Make It

  1. Begin by preheating your grill to medium-high heat (around 400 degrees).
  2. Wash the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1/4 inch thick slices or wedges.
  3. Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl and toss with enough oil to lightly coat them.

What You’ll Need: To make loaded baked potato skins you will need 4 large baking potatoes, olive oil, salt and pepper for seasoning the outside of the potatoes, 1/4 cup of butter or margarine (melted), 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, 8 slices of cooked bacon (crumbled), 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish.

How to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Wash potatoes under cold running water; pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub each potato lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place on baking sheet; bake in preheated oven 45 minutes or until tender when pierced with fork.
  5. Remove from oven; cool slightly before handling them.
  6. Cut each potato lengthwise into four equal pieces; discard ends or save for another use such as mashed potatoes or soup stock.
  7. Carefully scoop out flesh from inside each piece leaving 1/4-inch thick shell intact; reserve flesh for another use such as mashed potatoes or soup stock discarding any dark spots on skin surface while scooping out flesh.
  8. Brush melted butter over both sides of each piece including edges; sprinkle evenly with cheese and crumbled bacon bits over buttered surfaces only not edges.
  9. Bake in preheated oven 15 minutes longer until cheese is melted and bubbly around edges and shells are crisp.
  10. Garnish top of warm potato skins before serving if desired using fresh parsley leaves or snipped chives.

7. Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped potatoes are a classic side dish that is made with thinly sliced potatoes, cream or milk, and cheese. It is baked in the oven until golden brown.

What You’ll Need: To make scalloped potatoes you will need potatoes (such as russet or Yukon gold), butter, flour, salt and pepper to taste, garlic powder (optional), an onion (optional), heavy cream or milk, grated cheese (such as cheddar or Parmesan).

How To Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter.
  3. Peel and slice the potatoes into 1/4-inch slices and place them in the pan. If desired add chopped onions at this point.
  4. In a medium saucepan melt butter over low heat then add the flour and whisk together until smooth paste forms; season with salt & pepper to taste plus garlic powder if desired.
  5. Gradually add cream while stirring continuously until mixture thickens; pour over potato slices and stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly throughout the pan.
  6. Sprinkle top of mixture generously with grated cheese of your choice before baking for 45 minutes or until bubbly around edges and lightly browned on top; let cool 10 minutes before serving warm alongside BBQ chicken for a delicious meal!

8. Potato Gratin

Potato gratin is a classic French dish made with sliced potatoes, cream, and cheese.

It is sometimes referred to as scalloped potatoes or dauphinoise potatoes.

The ingredients are layered in a baking dish, covered with a creamy sauce, and baked until golden and bubbly.

What You’ll Need: To make potato gratin you will need potatoes (preferably Yukon Gold), cream (or half-and-half), garlic, butter, Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, salt & pepper.

How To Make It

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds about 1/8 inch thick using either a mandolin or sharp knife.
  3. Place them in a bowl of cold water so they don’t oxidize while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  4. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt the butter then add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add cream (or half-and-half) and bring to a simmer stirring occasionally; season with salt & pepper to taste then remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish with butter then layer one third of the potato slices on bottom followed by one third of parmesan cheese; repeat two more times ending with parmesan cheese on top; pour cream mixture over top making sure all slices are evenly coated; sprinkle nutmeg over top for flavor if desired; cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes until tender when pierced with fork – uncover last 5 minutes of cooking time if desired for browned topping.
  7. Let cool 10 minutes before serving alongside your BBQ chicken entrée!

9. Parmesan Potato Stacks

How To Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Peel the potatoes and slice into thin rounds using a mandoline or very sharp knife.
  3. Grease an 8-inch round baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  4. Arrange the potato slices in layers in the prepared pan, seasoning each layer lightly with salt & pepper as well as the minced garlic, oregano and basil.
  5. Drizzle each layer generously with melted butter before topping it off with grated parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes until golden brown on top and tender when pierced through with a fork.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm alongside your favorite BBQ chicken dish!

10. Twice Baked Potatoes

Twice-baked potatoes are a classic side dish made with potatoes that have been baked, then scooped out and mashed with butter, cheese, and other ingredients before being returned to the potato shells and baked again.

The result is a creamy, cheesy potato casserole that can be served as an accompaniment to any meal.

What You’ll Need: To make twice-baked potatoes you will need 4 large baking potatoes (such as russets), 1/4 cup of butter or margarine, 1/2 cup of sour cream, 1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese, 2 tablespoons of chopped chives or green onion tops (optional), salt and pepper to taste.

How To Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash the potatoes well and dry them off.
  3. Prick each potato several times with a fork.
  4. Place on cookie sheet in preheated oven for about one hour or until tender when pierced with a fork. When done allow to cool slightly before handling.
  5. Cut each potato lengthwise in half and carefully scoop out insides leaving enough around edges so that skins hold their shape when filled again.
  6. In medium bowl mash the inside of the potatoes together with butter or margarine until fluffy; add sour cream, grated cheese, chives or green onions if desired; season with salt & pepper; mix all together thoroughly but do not overmix.
  7. Carefully spoon mixture back into potato shells mounding it up slightly higher than edge of shell; sprinkle lightly with additional grated cheese if desired; place stuffed potatoes onto cookie sheet & bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes or until lightly browned on top & heated through throughout center of potato.
  8. Serve hot.
