Just be sure to use a starter that’s not too acidic, or your recipe will taste terrible.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar or sugar substitute
  • 1 3/4 cups sourdough discard
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder or chocolate chips of choice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together oil, sugar, sourdough discard, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Add eggs and mix until well combined.
  • Add all-purpose flour and cocoa powder (or chocolate chips of choice) and mix until well combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
