Kale salad is a great dish to serve with a variety of side dishes. For instance, a grilled vegetable side dish like zucchini or asparagus would be perfect.
Alternatively, a pasta dish such as fettuccine alfredo or penne with meatballs would also go well with kale salad.

1. Grilled Chicken

Sometimes you’ll want to serve your guests something a bit different.
This is why I recommend going for a piece of grilled chicken!
I love it when my friends come round to my house for dinner, and they always get a taste of my delicious chicken.
You can make a meal out of this, just by serving it alongside a side salad of fresh kale.
The chicken will make a nice change to what you might normally have to offer, and kale is a great source of iron and vitamins A and C.
2. Grilled Salmon

Salmon is another great choice for what to serve with kale salad. It has a nice, clean flavour, and it’s one of the healthiest fish out there.
Make sure you eat plenty of oily fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel for the best nutritional benefits!
3. Roasted Carrots

Kale salad is a great side dish for any meal, and if you’re making your own, you’ll be able to experiment with all sorts of flavour combinations.
One of my favourites is roasted carrots, which you can prepare by slicing your carrots in half and popping them into the oven at 400°C/200°C fan/gas mark 6 for 15 minutes.
They’ll become tender and caramelised, and look super impressive on the plate!
Don’t worry if your carrots are a bit thicker than normal – this technique works really well for them too.
4. Tuna Salad

A tasty tuna salad is one of my favourite accompaniments to kale salad.
This is because it adds some crunch, and also a bit of protein, meaning it will fill you up without weighing you down.
To make this a healthier option, leave out the cheese and use low fat mayonnaise instead.
5. Grilled Vegetables

A bowl of grilled vegetables is another healthy option for what to serve with kale salad.
The choice is entirely up to you, but I like to get creative with my vegetable options and sometimes grill mushrooms or cherry tomatoes as well!
If you do choose to add grilled veggies, make sure that you serve them on a bed of lettuce, so you can get the most from their fresh flavour and crisp texture.
6. Potato Salad

Potato salad is another classic option, and it’s one that’s quick and easy to prepare.
All you need is a bag of white potatoes (or if you prefer, sweet potato) and some dressing – my preference is to simply use a bit of mayonnaise, a splash of milk, and some finely chopped fresh herbs like chives and parsley.
You can also add your favourite vegetables here, like green beans, tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots.
7. Pasta Salad

A pasta salad is a great option for what to serve with kale salad.
You can use whole wheat pasta or spiral pasta, and you can also vary the ingredients depending on your own personal preferences.
Try adding finely chopped cherry tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, dried cranberries, and black pepper.
You can even experiment with a bit of pesto, if you prefer.
8. Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruit is a delicious, healthy choice to accompany any meal, especially when you’re in a hurry.
This is because it’s easy to prepare, and it’s so versatile, meaning that you can add whatever flavours you fancy to give it extra zing and appeal.
If you don’t have any fresh fruit on hand, you can still make a satisfying side salad with kale, rocket, and chopped apples or pears.
9. Garlic Bread

Garlic bread is such a quick and easy side dish to make, and it’s really delicious too!
You can add your own personal touches to make it more special if you want to, like making your own homemade garlic butter or dressing.
Or you can simply use a simple garlic bread mix from the supermarket.
Just add some butter, parmesan cheese, and chopped garlic, and bake in the oven until golden brown.
10. Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Sometimes, it’s fun to eat healthy, and there’s no better way to do this than by eating fries!
Sweet potato fries are my personal favourite as they’re healthier than regular white potatoes and so much more delicious!
They also have a much lower carbohydrate content, which means you can enjoy them alongside other meals without worrying about bloating or weight gain.
I usually serve them with a salad like kale, avocado, and chicken, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you can go all out with some bacon, garlic, and cheese.
3 Tips for Serving Sides Alongside Kale Salad?

Kale salad is a great side dish or entree, but it does not come with a one-size-fits-all answer for what to serve it with.
Here are some tips:
- If the kale salad is the side dish, try serving it alongside steak, grilled chicken or fish, or lamb. It also pairs well with a variety of grains and beans in a grain bowl or hearty salad.
- If the kale salad is the entree, try adding quinoa or rice to make it more filling, or serving it as-is alongside a soup or veggie burger.
- If you’re looking for an easy way to dress up the kale salad, try serving it with an offbeat vinaigrette (raspberry vinaigrette pairs particularly well with the sweetness of kale), sprinkling nuts on top, or adding dried fruit like cranberries.
