Slowly Baked Fall Off the Bone Chicken Drumsticks

Hello friends! Today, I’m sharing one of my go-to chicken recipes. This slowly baked chicken is so tender and simply falls off the bone. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 lbs chicken drumsticks
  • 1 whole onion, sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • juice from 1 whole orange
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 Tbs brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to your taste
  • 5 Tbs butter, sliced

Instructions below (step-by-step photos)

Start by placing some chicken legs into a large baking pan. Next, add a whole sliced onion to the chicken.

We’re also going to add a few crushed garlic cloves. After this, set it aside.

Now, let’s prepare a flavorful sauce for the chicken. Squeeze the juice of an orange into a mixing bowl.

I went ahead and squeezed the orange juice into the bowl. Next, add some olive oil.

Then, add some dried oregano, dried thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard.

Mix everything together until well combined.

Once well mixed, pour the sauce all over the chicken.

Next, season generously with salt and black pepper to taste, and mix everything together very well.

Make sure the chicken is arranged in a single layer in the pan.

Then, randomly toss some sliced butter on top of the chicken.

While you’re doing all this prep work, make sure your oven has been preheated to broil. Place the chicken into the oven and let it broil for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, take it out from under the broiler. The purpose of broiling is to give the chicken a nice golden brown color.

Now reduce the oven temperature from broil all the way down to 250°F. Cover the chicken with aluminum foil, then place it back into the oven.

Let it slowly bake at 250°F for 4 hours.

After 4 hours, this is what the chicken looks like. The flavor is incredibly delicious, and your home will smell amazing!
