Popular ice cream brands could seriously injure you right now
Thousands of ice cream containers sitting in restaurant freezers across America right now contain something that could send you to the emergency room.
And chances are, you’ve probably eaten at one of these places recently.

A Massive Food Safety Crisis Unfolds
Wells Enterprises, the Iowa-based company behind Wells Dairy products, has just issued a voluntary recall that’s making headlines across the country.
The recall affects nearly two dozen different flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt.
But this isn’t your typical food safety issue involving bacteria or allergens.

Where These Products Are Being Served
The contaminated desserts were distributed to 103 centers nationwide, according to the FDA enforcement report.
These aren’t just grocery stores we’re talking about.
The affected products were sold specifically to restaurants, cafeterias, and food service companies.
All of the recalled items were packaged in large 3-gallon containers – the kind used by commercial food establishments.

The FDA’s Classification Tells a Serious Story
The FDA has designated this as a Class II recall.
According to the agency’s official definition, this classification indicates a situation where exposure to the contaminated product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
However, the FDA notes that “the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
The recall was initiated by Wells Enterprises on April 25 and officially classified in the FDA’s system on May 14.
The Scope Is Staggering
Among the recalled products, the largest single batch consists of 5,280 tubs of “Vanilla Frozen Yogurt.”
The complete list includes popular flavors like Rocky Road, Mocha Almond Fudge, and Peanut Butter ‘N Fudge ice cream.
Brand names affected include Glenview Farms, Johnny Rockets, Planet Smoothie, and several others.
The expiration dates on these products range from March to October 2026, meaning some of this contaminated ice cream could have been sitting in commercial freezers for months.

What Makes This Recall So Dangerous
Here’s what makes this situation particularly concerning for consumers.
The contamination isn’t from bacteria, mold, or typical food safety hazards.
According to the FDA report, these ice cream and frozen yogurt products are contaminated with hard plastics.
Hard plastic fragments in food can cause serious injuries including chipped or broken teeth, cuts to the mouth and throat, choking hazards, and potential internal injuries if swallowed.
Unlike soft contaminants that might pass through the digestive system harmlessly, hard plastic pieces pose immediate physical risks to anyone consuming the affected products.

The FDA’s investigation into this recall remains ongoing, with no termination date currently listed.
If you’ve recently eaten ice cream at a restaurant or cafeteria and experienced any unusual sensations while eating, it may be worth contacting the establishment to inquire about their ice cream supplier.
