Father Runs Down And Kills Deputy A Day After Police Shot His Own Son Dead
A community is in shock after an unimaginable sequence of events unfolded in Ohio.
How could a father’s grief lead to another devastating loss just one day later?

Tragedy Strikes Near University Campus
It happened near the University of Cincinnati on a Friday afternoon, a day usually filled with the joy of graduation ceremonies.
Instead, the area near Martin Luther King Drive became the scene of heartbreak around 1 p.m.
A Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy was working a traffic detail, helping manage the flow of vehicles near the campus.
Suddenly, a vehicle struck the deputy.

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge confirmed the devastating news at a press conference.
The injured deputy was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
A Dedicated Public Servant Remembered
The fallen officer, whose name was not immediately released pending family notifications, was described as a pillar of the department.
Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey spoke emotionally about the loss.

“I knew the man, and I knew what a tremendous, tremendous person he is and what a tremendous loss we have all suffered,” Sheriff McGuffey shared.
She revealed a poignant detail: the deputy had actually retired just a few months prior.
However, his dedication led him to continue serving the community as a “special deputy,” taking on assignments like the traffic detail he was working when he was killed.
The Shadow of a Prior Incident
The story took a deeply disturbing turn as investigators linked the driver to another tragedy that occurred just the day before.
On Thursday, Cincinnati police officers were involved in a fatal encounter.

Officers had responded to a report around 9:30 a.m. concerning a stolen Kia SUV originating from Edgewood, Kentucky.
When they located the vehicle, four suspects inside allegedly fled on foot.
Police Chief Theetge stated that the chase was incredibly brief, lasting only about six seconds.
Details Emerge About Thursday’s Fatal Shooting
During the foot pursuit, one officer chased one suspect, while a second officer pursued another.
According to Chief Theetge, one of the suspects, an 18-year-old male, was armed with a handgun equipped with an extended magazine.

The Chief alleged that the teenager pointed the weapon at the pursuing officer.
In response, the officer discharged their firearm, fatally striking the 18-year-old.
Following the incident, two other suspects allegedly involved in the car theft were apprehended by police, while a fourth suspect reportedly remained at large.
The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
The Unthinkable Connection Revealed
Authorities confirmed the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed the deputy on Friday was the father of the 18-year-old who had been shot and killed by police the previous day.
The father, whose identity was later confirmed by sources like Fox 19 Now reporting on court documents related to Rodney Hinton Jr., was also transported to a hospital following the incident where the deputy was hit. His condition was not immediately detailed.

The Cincinnati Police Department is now leading the investigation into the death of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy.
During the University of Cincinnati’s commencement ceremony happening nearby, UC President Neville Pinto acknowledged the gravity of the situation, calling for a moment of silence.
“Before we get started, sadly, I have to report an incident that occurred today with a Hamilton County deputy sheriff on Martin Luther King Drive,” Pinto announced. “It was a very serious incident, and I would like to ask for a moment of silence to respect this officer.”
This double tragedy has left law enforcement and the wider Cincinnati community grappling with profound loss and seeking answers.
Investigations into both the deputy’s death and the preceding fatal police shooting of the son are actively underway.
