Egg McMuffin Recipe | Copycat Recipe | Breakfast Sandwich

This recipe provides a simple and affordable way to recreate the iconic Egg McMuffin at home, along with variations for sausage and a double-decker “Mac-a-Biscuit” version.

Enjoy a quick and delicious breakfast sandwich for a fraction of the cost of going out.

Ingredients

  • Thomas’ English Muffins
  • Eggs
  • Canadian Bacon
  • American Cheese slices
  • Pre-made Sausage Patties
  • Grape Jelly (or jelly of your choice)
  • Butter
  • Cooking oil/Non-stick spray

Preparation Time

  • Total Time: ~20 minutes
  • Prep Time: ~5 minutes
  • Cook Time: ~15 minutes
  • Servings: 3 servings

Step 1: Prepare the Hash Browns (Optional)

Add a little oil to a pan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to ~360°F.

Place hash browns in the pan, away from yourself, and cook until golden brown, flipping once. Remove and place on a baker’s rack to drain.

Step 2: Toast the English Muffins

Using a fork, poke holes around the perimeter of each English muffin half. Gently pull apart the halves.

Toast the muffin halves in a toaster oven or air fryer until lightly browned.

Step 3: Cook the Eggs and Canadian Bacon

Spray a pan with non-stick spray. Place egg rings in the pan and crack an egg into each ring. Break the yolks with a fork.

Add Canadian bacon to the pan and cook until heated through.

Step 4: Assemble the Bacon Egg McMuffin

Place the bottom half of a toasted English muffin on a plate. Top with a slice of cheese, the cooked Canadian bacon, and the cooked egg.

Add the top half of the English muffin. Optionally, use a butane torch to melt the cheese slightly.

Step 5: Cook the Eggs and Sausage

Repeat Step 3, substituting sausage patties for Canadian bacon.

Step 6: Assemble the Sausage Egg McMuffin

Repeat Step 4, substituting the cooked sausage patty for the Canadian bacon.

Step 7: Assemble the “Mac-a-Biscuit” (Double Decker)

Butter both halves of a toasted English muffin. Spread grape jelly on the bottom half.

Top with a sausage patty, a cooked egg, another sausage patty, another cooked egg, a slice of cheese, and the top half of the muffin.

Serve the Egg McMuffins immediately.
