Chinese Take-Out Style Shrimp Fried Rice

This classic Chinese-American dish combines tender shrimp, fresh vegetables, and perfectly seasoned rice for a delicious homestyle version of takeout favorite. The key to achieving the ideal texture is using cold or day-old rice, which helps prevent clumping and creates that signature fried rice texture.

Ingredients

For the Shrimp Marinade:

  • 1 lb medium shrimp, cleaned and deveined
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion

For the Rice and Sauce:

  • 4 cups cooked long grain rice
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil

Vegetables:

  • 5 oz bean sprouts
  • 1 cup chopped green onion

Step 1: Prepare the Rice

  • Spread 4 cups of cooked long grain rice on a baking sheet
