Browned Butter Honey Glazed Ham

This spectacular holiday ham is slowly baked and glazed with a delicious browned butter honey mixture.

It’s surprisingly easy to make and yields a tender, flavorful, and visually stunning centerpiece for any holiday table.

Ingredients & Equipment

  • 8 lb fully cooked, spiral-sliced ham
  • Aluminum foil
  • Roasting pan
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Basting brush
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Fresh cranberries and kale (for garnish, optional)

  • Cook Time: ~1 hour 50 minutes
  • Servings: Depends on ham size (8lb ham serves approximately 10-12)

Preparing the Ham

Place the ham flat side down in a roasting pan.

Cover the ham completely with aluminum foil.

Baking the Ham

Bake the ham at 275°F for 1 hour and 30 minutes (adjust baking time based on ham weight: 10-12 minutes per pound).

Honey Glaze

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Continuously stir the melted butter for about 5 minutes until browned.

Add honey to the browned butter.

Add brown sugar to the butter and honey mixture.

Add ground cloves to the mixture.

Add Dijon mustard to the mixture.

Mix all ingredients until the sugar is melted and the glaze is smooth.

Remove the glaze from heat and set aside.

Glazing the Ham

Remove the ham from the oven after the initial baking time.

Pour the glaze over the ham, ensuring it seeps into the slices.

Pour the remaining glaze over the entire ham.

Return the ham to the oven uncovered for 15 minutes.

Second Glaze and Bake

Remove the ham from the oven and baste it thoroughly with the glaze.

Return the ham to the oven for another 15 minutes.

Plating

Remove the fully cooked and glazed ham from the oven.

Garnish the ham with fresh cranberries and kale (optional).

Drizzle remaining glaze or pan juices over the ham.
