AOC branded a “war criminal” by her own supporter during chaotic town hall
Things escalated quickly at a recent event hosted by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
What started as a standard district town hall took a sharp turn almost immediately.

Setting the Scene in Queens
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), often known as AOC, was hosting a town hall for her constituents in Queens, New York City on a Friday night.
These events are typically opportunities for residents to hear from their representative and ask questions about pressing issues.
AOC began her presentation, reportedly planning to discuss topics like the Trump administration’s budget cuts and their alleged impact on local healthcare.

Before the First Slide Finished
The congresswoman barely got into her first PowerPoint slide when the proceedings were abruptly halted.
A voice cut through the room, loud and insistent, directed squarely at the representative.
It wasn’t a question, but an accusation.

Crowd Reacts to Disruption
As the shouts continued, the atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically.
Other attendees reacted strongly to the interruption.
Audible “boos” filled the space, and chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!” were directed towards the individual causing the disturbance.
Despite the vocal disapproval from others, the protester initially refused to yield.

Rising Political Profile
The incident comes as Ocasio-Cortez continues to be a prominent figure in national politics.
Rumors frequently swirl regarding her potential ambitions for higher office, possibly even a presidential run in the future, though she has not confirmed such plans.
Her fundraising prowess is undeniable. Reports indicate she raised a staggering $9.6 million in the preceding three months, largely fueled by small-dollar donations.
AOC highlighted this support came from around 266,000 individual donors, with an average contribution of just $21.

The Confrontation Unfolds
The protester, identified in reports as a healthcare worker, began shouting about the situation in Gaza.
“I am a healthcare worker and I want to know what you’re doing about the genocide in Gaza!”
Ocasio-Cortez attempted to engage and calm the individual, but the shouting persisted.
As event staff approached and eventually escorted the woman out voluntarily, her accusations became even more pointed.
“Shame on you, you’re a liar. You’re a liar!”
“Shame on you, I used to support you,”
“You’re a war criminal! War criminal! War Criminal!”
These parting words echoed as she exited the venue.

AOC Addresses the Incident
Once order was restored, Ocasio-Cortez addressed the remaining attendees about the outburst.
“I more than welcome people who disagree, or are super pissed off at me for any issue to come, but we have some ground rules here,” she stated.
“Please wait for the Q&A, because we don’t want to deprive all of our neighbors of the ability to have information and hearing them respond to it… We need to be able to have this conversation.”
The congresswoman emphasized the need for respectful dialogue, even amidst strong disagreement.
The town hall then continued, though the initial moments highlighted the intense emotions surrounding complex geopolitical issues and the challenges politicians face in navigating them.
